1. What is your three favourite festivals - why - and dresscode?
- Well, ok, I haven’t actually been to that many festivals, in fact Roskilde 2005 was my first. Before that I had just been to a couple of concerts in Iceland, namely Coldplay and Wiseguys.
- My fave now is definitely Roskilde, had a great experience there. The sun was shining the whole time, great bands and great atmosphere! Me and my best friend had just been dumped so we decided on a whim to just go! It was great.
- On the other hand Malaysian festivals like Sunburst are also kinda cool since people tend to be very polite, no pushing, and they are all…well, small like me, so I can seeeee!
- Dresscode? Well, ok, do NOT wear your favorite clothes… Music festivals make your jeans muddy and your tshirts? Ugh, other peoples sweat… shudder… After Sunburst I realised I had a stain on my t-shirt, right around the midriff, it looked suspiciously like blood… I was so freaked out, WHOSE blood is on me! Then later I remembered I had been eating chocolate icecream…
2. You never forget to bring?
- A camera… Oh man, it’s seriously the best thing to have on earth… Without it you wouldn’t remember ANYTHING hahahaha…. Oh and a change of underwear of course for the festivals that last more than 2 days.
3. How do you get a festival mood?
- Well, sometimes the mood just gets YOU, ya know? The second you arrive on the field, you see the people, the music drifting across the sky… ahhhh…. I can feel the festival itch in me. OR you can go the way my stepbro went.
- He and his mate walked around with a guitar until they found a hot chick. Then they would say to her “Do you know what you are?” And they would begin singing: “you are a Festival Slut! A Festival Slut!” Am surprised they didn’t get beaten up.
4. Your best festival advice?
- According to a friend? Do not do it in a tent on your knees. It hurts like hell the next day. Oh and bring sunblock, peeling is not a fun festival memory.
- Oh wow… I guess have people you can trust around you! Trust your instincts, but don’t be afraid to wander around, that’s how you have adventures! I got rejected by a one-armed man. Now that’s a blow to the ego, but an adventure none the less!
5. Mud wrestling in the camping or clean hotel sheets?
- Both. Hahahahaha…. I am a girl deep down in me, but there is something wonderfully nasty about sliding through the mud and not caring.
6. Going with friends or meeting new ones?
- Both. Gotta have a good crowd with you, but meeting new people is part of the whole experience, me and my friend we camped smack in the middle of someone elses camp. It was awesome!
7. Easy listening or head banging?
- Both! Silly question! Festivals are the best coz you don’t have to choose!
8. Dirty toilets or peeing in the park?
- Depends how dirty the toilet is. Peeing in the park is usually nicer, especially later on towards the night:P
- Although I have to admit, sometimes people go too far. At Roskilde while we were watching Black Sabbath there was this couple next to us, in their 40s I would say. Real hardcore fans I guess.
- Halfway through the show the woman like disappears, and grabs my knee. She’s like squatting down. First I was worried, is she ok? Did she collapse? NO, the beatch was fricking using me as leverage while she PEED ON MY FOOT! AAAARGHH! It was kinda packed though. She was definitely the most rock n roll ever. A Festival Slut indeed.
9. Your best festival memory ever?
- John Legend 10 feet away from me…his sweat flying through the air and landing on my face…awwww yeah… The man is pure sex.
10. Which festivals can we meet you this season?
- I am moving to the UK this summer, so lets see what happens! Maybe Iceland Airwaves, about time I go home innit!
Vil du følge Helens råd:
Dra til Roskilde 3.-6. juli, Iceland Airwaves 15.-19. oktober eller Sunburst-festivalen i mars i Kuala Lumpur.
